The rules specify that you have to be wearing a Sintimacy outfit and the photo is taken at the Sintimacy main store. Despite all my planing and studying the rules I messed up with my first entries and had to re-shoot some photos and resubmit :( The good news is that you can enter as many times as you want. Yay!

I used two of my alternate avatars; Vicki and Jeri for some of the photos. Jeri turned out so hot with her outfit I'm reminded how much I wish Istephanija Munro made outfits for Real Life.
For those that are not aware of the technical side of Second Life there are some quirks with how images are handled and some tricks for awesome looking photos. For each photo I saved at least two snapshots to my hard drive, one of the normal color image and one of the depth map. The depth map allows for adding the defocus effect one gets when adjusting the camera's aperture/depth of field in real world photography. Ryker Beck provided a tutorial on this. Doing this required a trick to freeze the scene so the color and depth images matched, otherwise if object move between snapshots they will not line up when merging the color and depth snapshots. Torley provided the tutorial on how to do that.
For some of the photos I captured an additional color image. For each of the snapshots I adjusted the Second Life client lighting differently. Caliah Lyon has a tutorial on optimizing lighting for avatars. I tweaked the lighting settings to achieve whatever look I liked. I took one snapshot with the lighting set for the background, then took another snapshot with the lighting adjusted for the avatar. I then combined the images in Photoshop for the final result. This was really necessary because the Sintimacy store has its own lighting optimized for showing off the merchandise, not taking photos. This combining of images of different "exposures" is called High Dynamic Range (HDR) Imaging.
Once I had all my snapshots saved I processed the photos in Photoshop CS4, primarily using Alien Skin's Bokeh and Exposure 2 filters for visual effects and Digital Film Tools EZ Mask for editing. I did a little bit of touch up to clean up some of Second Life's rendering bugs, manually adjusted the depth of field and cropped the images to the nice 3:2 aspect ratio one gets with old fashioned 35mm prints.
